BAPTISM

Scripture shows that baptism does not bring salvation, but rather it is a public demonstration of the fact that you have already accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Believers choose to be baptized out of obedience to Jesus who preached about baptism and was even baptized Himself. For most people, baptism is a significant event in their walk with the Lord because it demonstrates in a visible manner their internal decision to follow Christ.

At Valley, we encourage baptism for those who have trusted in Christ as their personal Savior. One of the most meaningful steps we can take as believers is to obey the Lord in a public declaration of our devotion to Him through water baptism.

Valley offers the celebration of baptism at specific times during the year; it would be an honor for us to walk alongside you as you take this step in your spiritual journey.

THE PROCESS

1. Decide when you want to be baptized.
Baptisms are offered three times during the year:

2. Choose a Baptism Class
Baptism classes led by Pastor Steve Johnson are held at various times throughout the year. This class helps you to understand the meaning and process of baptism and to make wise decisions about your own baptism. The class is required in order to be baptized.

5. Attend Baptism Class
This one-hour class is held on Sunday morning. Attendance is required and crucial for understanding the meaning of baptism.

6. Interview
Following the class, you will be scheduled for an interview with two deacons who will listen to you share how you became a Christian (your testimony). At least one parent of a child under 13 is asked to be present when the child meets with the deacons. The purpose of this is to verify that the child truly understands the Gospel and that there is a real change in his/her life. Young people (under 18 years of age) must have a signed consent form in order to be baptized.
